Kansas transfer Rylan Griffen visiting Kentucky on Tuesday

Rylan Griffen has scheduled a portal visit to Kentucky for next week on Tuesday, On3’s Joe Tipton has confirmed. KSR’s Jacob Polacheck has also confirmed that visit for him to Lexington next week.
Griffen has most recently been connected to Miami coming off a visit on Tuesday with the Hurricanes. There’s also been reported connection with him to one of his former schools with Alabama. Kentucky had previously been in contact with him at his original entry into the portal back at the end of March.
Griffen has spent the past two seasons with Alabama and Kansas with 106 appearances, 53 of those being starts. He has averaged 7.8 points (40.5% FG, 34.9% 3PT on 1.5 triples), 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in that career with the Crimson Tide and Jayhawks.
Griffen had a career-year as a starter during his sophomore season at ‘Bama in posting 11.2 points (45.4% FG, 39.2% 3PT on 2.1 threes made), 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists on a team that would go on to make the Final Four. However, after transferring to KU, he saw those numbers slide to 6.3 points (37.2% FG, 33.6% 3PT on 1.2 three-pointers made), 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in a disappointing season for himself and their team in Lawrence.
Griffen, a native of Richardson, Texas, was a four-star recruit in the 2022 cycle. He was the No. 44 overall prospect as the No. 4 SG in the class and the No. 5 player out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Now, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, Griffen is one of the top names still on the board. He rates at No. 90 overall as the No. 21 SG, which, to this point of the cycle, has him as a Top-30 player and a Top-10 shooting guard still available.
Kentucky has put together one of the top portal classes in the country so far to pair with their returning corps, a pair of four-star freshmen, and one international addition. They’ll be bringing in Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State), Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama), Jaland Lowe (Pittsburgh), and Kam Williams (Tulane) to the bluegrass as the No. 2 transfer class currently per On3. However, Mark Pope and the Wildcats are clearly looking to recruit one more piece on the wing, especially after missing earlier this week in the recruitment of Lamar Wilkerson (Sam Houston State to Indiana).
Griffin could now be that additional piece in the backcourt for UK. That’ll all depend, though, on how his visit goes next week once he arrives on campus.
