Although March Madness has almost arrived and sports fans have their attention focused on college basketball, that doesn’t mean that they can’t get excited for spring football – which is just around the corner.

For the Kentucky Wildcats, who are coming off a highly successful season in 2021, they’re set to hold their annual Blue vs. White spring football game on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. ET at Kroger Field in Lexington. The game will air on SEC Network+.

According to Kentucky’s press release, admission to the Wildcats’ Blue-White spring game will be free to the public and tickets will not be required. Additionally, Kroger Field will be open seating for the game – with the exception of the stadium’s club level.

Kentucky’s Blue-White game will be a part of the Wildcats’ spring practices, which begin March 8, per the release.

The Wildcats are coming off a 10-3 season in 2021, which included a win over Iowa in the Citrus Bowl, and return some key players – including quarterback Will Levis and running back Chris Rodriguez.

Report: Kentucky to hire NFL assistant as offensive coordinator

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has his new offensive coordinator — and he’s going back to the NFL to get him.

The Wildcats are hiring San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello to fill the role, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Scangarello replaces Liam Coen, who left to return to the Los Angeles Rams as their offensive coordinator.

Scangarello just wrapped up the first season of his second stint with the 49ers. He previously worked as their quarterbacks coach from 2017-18 before one-year tenures with the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles. Now, he’s heading back to the college ranks for the first time since he was FCS Wagner’s offensive coordinator in 2016.

Scangarello also worked as the offensive coordinator at UC Davis in 2008 and Northern Arizona from 2012-14. He also served as the Broncos’ OC in 2019.
