Kentucky assistant coach responds to harsh take on Will Levis
Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has become a hot topic in college football. Some see him as a Heisman candidate and first round NFL Draft pick in 2023. Others have started to see him as an overrated prospect. One of those analysts is Michael Bratton, who criticized Levis and Kentucky on the Paul Finebaum show on Monday at SEC Media Days. He picked the Wildcats to finish fifth in the SEC East and said Levis would have left for the NFL last year if he was an NFL-caliber quarterback prospect.
Needless to say, some who follow the Kentucky program didn’t agree with Bratton’s take. For example, Wildcats associate coach Vince Marrow tweeted out his reaction to what Bratton said. Marrow’s thought the SEC Podcast’s host wasn’t considering the fact that Levis wanted to remain in Lexington to develop. He also made it clear that his prediction for Kentucky’s record would be useful bulletin board material.

Meanwhile, the Wildcat faithful appear to also have caught wind of the commentary. They also naturally disagreed with Bratton. KSR’s Matt Jones concurred with Marrow and said the take overlooked former college quarterbacks who needed more development in order to be pro-ready.
SEC Media Days are the official open of the college football year with talking season starting in Atlanta. While some see Levis as a pro prospect, comments like Bratton’s were always going to be there as well. All Levis can do now is prove those thoughts wrong when Kentucky opens their season against Miami (OH) on Sept 3.
