Kentucky cornerback Elijah Reed enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Kentucky cornerback Elijah Reed entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Reed spent two years in Lexington, appearing in just four games in 2022 to maintain his redshirt before appearing in all 12 regular season games for the ‘Cats this fall.
Before attending Kentucky, Reed played high school football a few dozen miles down I-64 at Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) in Louisville, where he was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated as the No. 804 overall prospect and the No. 7 player from Kentucky in his cycle.
Reed was originally a member of the 2021 graduating class, but with his 2020 football season coming directly in the wake of COVID, he didn’t get much college attention. So Reed decided to use his extra year of high school eligibility during the 2021-22 school year and changed positions on the football field, moving from wide receiver to cornerback in the fall of 2021, where he broke out as a potential Division I prospect in his new role, eventually taking Mark Stoops up on an offer to join the Wildcats.
