Kentucky DL Darrion Henry-Young will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per his representation at A&P Sports Agency, as shared by CBS Sports.

“I would like to thank God for putting me in this position. I truly believe I wouldn’t be here without him. I appreciate my experience at Kentucky and I am thankful for my teammates, coaches, and anyone who contributed to our team and program,” Henry-Young wrote in a statement shared by A&P. “After prayer and spending time discussing with my family, I’ve decided to enter the portal with two years of eligibility left.”

Henry-Young will be entering his sixth collegiate season overall next fall with a seventh available to him. He has spent the past three years at Kentucky after a pair to start with at Ohio State. However, he didn’t play at all last season due to a knee injury with his ACL that he was recovering from.

Henry-Young has made 17 appearances during the four years prior with a pair apiece with the Wildcats and Buckeyes. He has posted 12 tackles, a third of those being for loss, with 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in that collegiate career in Lexington and Columbus. That includes a career-best year with 10 tackles, a pair being for loss, plus 1.5 sacks and that forced fumble during his last season with UK in 2023.

A native of Cincinnati just an hour and a half north of Lexington, Henry-Young played high school football at Princeton. He was a Top-150 recruit nationally as a four-star prospect there in 2020. He also rated as a Top-20 prospect on the defensive line and the No. 2 player out of the state of Ohio behind only OT Paris Johnson Jr. (Ohio State, No. 6 pick in 2023 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals).

Henry-Young will now be the eighth loss of the spring portal cycle, with all but one being linemen, so far for Kentucky. He now joins DL Kendrick Gilbert, CB Jiquavious Marshall, IOL Marc Nave, NG Dennious Jackson, and a trio of offensive linemen in Daniel Mincey, Anfernee Crease, and Wallace Unamba. The Wildcats, though, have added two players, one of whom is a returning player to the program, in WR Hardley Gilmore (Nebraska) and DE Lorenzo Cowan (USC).
