Kentucky Football announces Jordan Wright cleared to return to play
Kentucky football just got a massive boost as they head to the Swamp this weekend for a battle at No. 12 Florida. Their senior linebacker, Jordan Wright, who missed the first game of the year vs. Miami (OH) is officially back with the team.
Here was Kentucky’s team account’s post on Twitter welcoming the veteran back:
Kentucky reporter Keith Farmer also reported the news, tweeting:
“BREAKING from @UKFootball : We are pleased to report that Jordan Wright is available for games and competition immediately.”
Kentucky fans familiar with the situation know what a strange one it’s been. Wright and star senior running back Chris Rodriguez both missed the first game of the year and were being held out for reasons head coach Mark Stoops said he could not discuss. Rodriguez was also being disciplined for a DUI incident over the summer and there’s no word on his return yet.
But Jordan Wright is back with the team and ready to suit up this Saturday.
Stoops’ comments on the situation
A lot of Kentucky fans have already heard what’s going on with the two seniors through various social media circles and rumor mills. However, the ‘Cats head coach still isn’t allowed to comment.

“I’ve been advised that I just need to stay mum on this situation,” he said Monday. “It’s not Mark Stoops. It’s out of my hands. … I don’t have anything I can report. I’ve always been transparent with you, tried to be the best I can. Again I’ve been advised — there are things going on, layers to this that I’ve been advised I really can’t comment on it. It’s not that I’m trying to hide things from you.
“If I could say it, I would. I mean, it’s that simple. I’m not trying to hold anything back. I can’t be more clear now. I’ve been advised — I think you can understand that it’s out of my hands.”
Now, Wright’s situation has been resolved, with the standout pass-rusher set to join his teammates on the field in Gainesville. As for Rodriguez, the wait continues.
