Kentucky lands transfer commitment from former Michigan defensive back DJ Waller
Former Michigan defensive back DJ Waller will transfer to Kentucky for the 2024 season, KSR‘s Matt Jones reported Saturday. Waller spent just one season with the Wolverines and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
He appeared in 11 games this past season mostly on special teams to record 12 tackles and one pass breakup. His four tackles against UNLV early in the year were a season high.
As a recruit, Waller was a three-star prospect coming out of Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio. He ranked as the No. 684 overall prospect and No. 62 safety in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
DJ Waller is the second transfer defensive back that Kentucky has added this offseason alongside former Alabama cornerback Kristian Story. The Wildcats have brought in 11 total players via the transfer portal while losing 22. They rank No. 17 overall and No. 6 in the SEC according to On3’s Team Transfer Portal Rankings.
