The ‘Cats and the Irish will not play each other during the 2022-23 season. According to Jon Rothstein, the third game between Kentucky and Notre Dame is being pushed back by a year. Also, it won’t be held in Lexington or South Bend after games the last two years took place on each team’s home court.

Rothstein tweeted an update on Monday. “The third installment of the multi-year series between Kentucky and Notre Dame has been pushed back to the 23-24 season and will be played at a neutral site that is currently TBD.”

So there you have it. Notre Dame and Kentucky at an undisclosed destination during the 2023-24 season. John Calipari’s club will be looking for revenge after having lost in 2021 and 2022 to the Fighting Irish, once in Rupp Arena and once in South Bend.

Kentucky basketball adds Duquesne to 2022-23 schedule

Monday morning, Jon Rothstein tweeted a report confirming an opponent for the ‘Cats in the fall of 2022.

His simple report read: “Source: Kentucky will host Duquesne as part of its 22-23 non-conference schedule.”

Not an opponent that will excite very many fans nor present much of a challenge to the Wildcats. The Dukes are fresh off a horrible 2021-22 campaign. They won just six games and none after January 8th. They also went 1-16 to finish dead last in the A-10, winning their first game of conference play before falling in 15 straight to end the year. Then their best player transferred after the season to make matters worse. Heck, this could be one of the worst basketball teams in division one next season.

Kentucky shouldn’t get on its high horse quite yet. The last A-10 team to stroll into Rupp Arena came away with a win. That was the 2020-21 Richmond Spiders. Although I highly doubt Duquesne will even keep this one close.
