LOOK: Kentucky quarterback Will Levis plays golf with Wildcat legend Tim Couch
For every college football program across America, it’s always cool to see the current stars connect with some of the stars of the past. This weekend, that got to happen when Kentucky signal-caller Will Levis played golf with former Wildcat legend Tim Couch.
Check out the picture of Couch and Levis following their golf outing, shared by KSR’s Tyler Thompson.
There are few names in Kentucky football history that epitomize greatness quite like Tim Couch did during his time there. His record-setting Wildcats career saw him pepper his name all over the record books in Lexington. Couch’s historic 1998 season saw him reel in numerous accolades and honors, including SEC Player of the Year, consensus All-American honors, and first-team All-SEC honors. On top of all that, the Kentucky native became the first Heisman Trophy finalist for the Wildcats football program in 41 years.
During his historic career with Kentucky football, Couch set seven NCAA, 14 SEC, and 26 school records. He was recently placed on the ballot for the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame. Couch went on to be selected as the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 NFL Draft.
While his time in the NFL didn’t go that well, there are few players in Kentucky history (both high school and college) who will ever match his near-endless list of accomplishments.
Will Levis also received some advice from Peyton Manning
Tim Couch isn’t the only great quarterback that Levis has gotten to spend time with recently. He also got to talk with Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning recently and talked about that during SEC Media Days. “I got a lot of advice from Manning. I think the one thing that I took away that I really understood. I always knew but I really bought into [it] after I heard from him was just to continue to carry yourself as a professional, as a representative of whatever program, school, franchise that you’re on in everything that you do. And understanding that, it’s almost like a job in itself. And you’re not just the quarterback. You are the ambassador and CEO in your own right, but you need to make sure that you’re doing everything to represent the institution that you’re representing as best as possible,” Levis said.
Former Florida legend Tim Tebow is very high on the Kentucky signal-caller
During SEC Media Days in Atlanta, former Florida Gator Tim Tebow included him in the top five of his list of 2022 SEC quarterbacks.

If that’s not enough, Tebow had Levis second overall on the list. He says while he flew under the radar in 2021, his size and gifts won’t make that possible for Levis this year.
“I want to give Jordan (Rodgers) a lot of credit for this guy because, before anyone else was talking about him, Jordan was talking about Will Levis,” said Tebow. “He is bigger than you think, he is way more athletic than he gets credit for, (and) he can absolutely sling it.”
Levis made a name for himself last season in Lexington during his first year as the starter. He threw for 2,826 yards and had 33 total touchdowns for Kentucky. He bloomed during Liam Coen’s one season as the team’s offensive coordinator. He led Kentucky to a 10-3 overall record, tied for their second best under Mark Stoops, and a Citrus Bowl victory.
Levis and his Kentucky teammates kickoff their 2022 season, starting Sept. 3 against Miami (OH).
