Kentucky football star Chris Rodriguez arrested
Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez, who is projected to be a major piece in the offense next season, has been arrested for careless driving and operating a vehicle while under the influence, according to the Kentucky arrest report. He was stopped by police in Fayette County, Kentucky on Sunday.
The University of Kentucky has not commented on the arrest of Chris Rodriguez at this time.
Rodriguez returned to Kentucky for his fifth season in the program after a career-best 1,378 yards on the ground last year. In 32 career games, he has 417 carries for 2,739 yards and 27 touchdowns, adding 15 receptions for 75 yards and three touchdowns.
The former three-star recruit came to the Wildcats in the 2018 class as an unheralded prospect. He ranked No. 1082 in the country according to the On3 Consensus, also ranking No. 83 among running backs and N0. 110 in his home state of Georgia.
Chris Rodriguez returns to Kentucky
After speculation that he could enter the 2022 NFL Draft and create buzz, Chris Rodriguez instead opted to return for another season. He brings a veteran presence and steady presence to the backfield as Kentucky looks to build on the success it found in 2021.

“When I signed at UK, my goals were to re-write the record books and be the first in my family to graduate from college,” Rodriguez wrote, via his Twitter. “I’m so close to accomplishing both of those goals and because of that, I would like that I will be coming back for another year!
“I know coming back will make me better not only for myself but also my team and the people around me. Let’s get to work!”
Kentucky went 10-3 overall and 5-3 in SEC action this season. The Wildcats defeated Iowa 20-17 in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day to reach the 10-win mark. They now return as one of the most veteran teams in the SEC East and have a chance to challenge in the second tier of the conference behind Alabama and Georgia.
