Kentucky sophomore guard announces plan to transfer
Kentucky guard Dontaie Allen announced his plan to transfer on Thursday morning, sending a message to fans on social media. The redshirt sophomore played a limited roll in his three seasons with the Wildcats, starting one game.

After emerging as one of Kentucky’s best 3-point shooters at 39.7 percent in 2020, he regressed to just 18.9 percent on fewer attempts with less than half the playing time. With the arrival of several key transfers and incoming freshmen, Dontaie Allen played in just 19 games during Kentucky’s 2021-22 season.

Allen arrived at Kentucky as a four-star recruit and the No. 89 overall ranked player in the On3 Consensus for the 2019 class. The Kentucky native ranked third in the state and chose the in-state Wildcats over Illinois, Louisville and others.

“Wow,” the statement starts. “This journey has been like no other. I can’t thank Big Blue Nation enough for embracing me unconditionally through the highs and lows. A kid from Kentucky given an unbelievable opportunity to play for his dream school. This wouldn’t feel right without thanking all mu coaches, brothers, the trainers, the staff, Big Blue Nation, and everyone who made my last three years so special. Lexington, Kentucky will forever be home. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to put my name into the transfer portal.

He also added the caption, “All love Big Blue Nation, forever my home” on his Twitter post with a blue heart emoji and a picture.
