LOOK: John Calipari reveals surprise ending to losing his Rolex
John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have the SEC Tournament upcoming and the head coach was in danger of being without his lucky charm. While celebrating the women’s basketball teams winning their own conference tournament, Calipari lost his watch before asking the people of Nashville to help him find it.
On Sunday night, Calipari revealed exactly how the search for his lucky watch ended. He tweeted that Kentucky women’s head coach Kyra Elzy is the one who found it and handed it back to the men’s head coach in time for the team to travel to Tampa Bay. Calipari called Elzy “the best,” putting a fitting to end this hilarious journey.
“Can you believe it?!? @UKCoachLZ wins an SEC championship in one of the greatest comebacks I’ve ever seen…AND THEN SHE FINDS MY WATCH!! You’re the best, Coach Elzy!!!”
Calipari will now take himself, his team, and his lucky watch to Tampa Bay to compete for the SEC Tournament. It’s been since 2018 when Kentucky last won the event, one of the longest stretches the program has gone since Calipari arrived in 2009.
The Wildcats have three options as to who can be their opponent in the quarterfinals on Friday. Georgia and Vanderbilt will open the tournament, with the winner playing against Alabama. Whoever wins the second-round matchup gets a date with a hungry and driven Kentucky team.

John Calipari loses watch at SEC Tournament, calls for search
Following the Kentucky women’s team’s victory in the SEC championship game on Sunday, men’s head coach John Calipari tweeted out an APB in search of a missing watch.
The watch in question, a white gold Rolex, is Calipari’s “lucky watch,” according to the Wildcats skipper, and he’s offering an unspecified reward for its return. It’s likely worth up to $30,000 or more.
“I threw my arms in the air celebrating and my white gold Rolex popped off my wrist,” Calipari tweeted. “If you find it, I have a reward!”
