Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez makes announcement about future
Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez has come up in NFL Draft conversation lately. But the junior took to Twitter and had three words that are music to Wildcats fans’ ears.
“Run it back.”
Rodriguez is coming back for his senior year, he announced Monday. That’s huge for Kentucky, which gets its leading rusher back for another year.
“When I signed at UK, my goals were to re-write the record books and be the first in my family to graduate from college,” Rodriguez wrote, via his Twitter. “I’m so close to accomplishing both of those goals and because of that, I would like that I will be coming back for another year!
“I know coming back will make me better not only for myself but also my team and the people around me. Let’s get to work!”
Rodriguez led Kentucky’s rushing attack this year, totaling 1,379 yards and nine touchdowns. He ranked second in the SEC in rushing behind Missouri’s Tyler Badie.
It’s more good news for Kentucky, which has the No. 13 recruiting class from the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. Linebacker Jacquez Johnson also announced his return this week, so things are looking up for the Wildcats program.
Kentucky went 10-3 overall and 5-3 in SEC action this season. The Wildcats defeated Iowa 20-17 in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day to reach the 10-win mark.

Jacquez Jones uses hilarious clip to announce he’s staying with Kentucky
Kentucky senior linebacker Jacquez Jones announced his decision Sunday regarding his future in college football and with the Wildcats. Jones announced with a video clip from The Wolf of Wall Street that he would not be leaving Kentucky.
With his video clip, Jones simply captioned the message with the Big Blue Nation social media tag. The reveal is an exciting one as the senior will return for a fifth season of college football, and his second with the Wildcats.
After the COVID-19 impacted season of 2020, college athletes were given an additional year of college eligibility. Jones will take advantage of the career extension and help build upon the ten-win season Kentucky had this year.
Jones played three years with Ole Miss before transferring to Kentucky in 2021. He recorded 86 tackles this year with Kentucky, including an 18-tackle game against Mississippi State. He also managed 40 solo tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits and a half sack. Jones’ playmaking is a direct result of his versatility as well, as he managed one forced fumble, an interception and four pass breakups.
