The NBA career of Kevin Knox has been a tad underwhelming since he was selected ninth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. However, he’s now off to another opportunity as he’s officially heading to his fourth team in the last two seasons.

That’s because, amidst all the moves on the trade deadline, Knox was moved from the Detroit Pistons and will now join the Portland Trailblazers. He was a piece of the deal that Adrian Wojnarowski reported that sent James Wiseman to the Motor City as well as Saddiq Bey to Atlanta. Knox was originally sent to Golden State but, since then, has been re-routed to Portland for Gary Payton II.

The New York Knicks selected Knox, a former five-star in the 2017 class, after his freshman season at Kentucky. Over his five-year pro career, the 6’7 forward has averaged 7.4 points per game.

That has steadily fallen off after his rookie season. Still, he’s having his best year in two seasons with 5.6 points per game on 46.9% shooting. That’s over the course of 42 games this year with Detroit. At just 23 years old, that seems to have been enough to entice the Blazers into acquiring him.

Things have gotten wild over the last couple of days in the NBA when it comes to trades. For now, though, Knox is headed to The City of Roses to play alongside Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, and Shaedon Sharpe.

John Wall traded back to Houston, reportedly will be bought out

Whew. Second-round picks and mediocre NBA contributors are pinballing around the League as the 2023 NBA season approaches the Thursday trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET. One of the many players moved is former Kentucky rockstar John Wall.

Wall was a Rocket for the past couple seasons before finally moving away to the Los Angeles Clippers this season. But, after roughly half a year with LAC, the Clips decided to deal him just before the deadline in a complicated three-team trade.

Shams Charania won this battle, reporting news of the Wall trade to Twitter 45 minutes before the final deadline horn. Here was that tweet:

“The Houston Rockets are acquiring John Wall in three-team deal with the Grizzlies and Clippers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”

Adrian Wojnarowski added more details to the trade a few minutes later:

“Breaking: The Rockets are acquiring John Wall as part of a three-team deal. The Clippers are sending Luke Kennard to the Grizzlies, and the Clippers are getting Eric Gordon, Danny Green and three second-round picks, sources told @wojespn.”

So John Wall is headed back to Houston after a half-season in Los Angeles. Fear not, Wall fans, because the Rockets are very likely to buy him out. That will effectively make him a free agent who will be able to sign with any team he likes afterward. In all likelihood, he lands on a contender that needs some help in the backcourt.

Either way, we probably aren’t done with John Wall jumping teams this season.
