Head coach Mark Stoops and star running back Ray Davis were in a celebratory mood following Kentucky’s 33-14 victory over Florida.

The Wildcats rushed for 329 yards against the Gators, with Davis accumulating 280 of those. Afterwards, Stoops spoke with ESPN’s Katie George, where he elaborated on Kentucky’s performance as a whole.

“I loved the way we started. I thought we started extremely fast. Physical on both sides of the line-of-scrimmage,” Stoops said. “Obviously had some explosive runs and plays in the first half. Slowed down a little bit in the second half, but you knew that Gators were going to fight back. That’s what’s going to happen.”

As for his running back, the Wildcats leader had nothing but love for Davis’ amazing statistical afternoon against an SEC rival.

“He was special today. He’s been special,” Stoops said, regarding Dais. “To get those kind of impressive runs against the Gators, with the way he runs it and then the receiving yards, you know he deserves a lot of credit. I’ll let you talk to him. He’s a baller.”

After telling George about his breakfast this morning, Davis explained how his offensive line, or as he affectionately called them, “The Big Blue Wall,” were the real heroes on the afternoon.

“Today I woke up, my offensive line was ready. They talked to me this morning, they said, ‘Let’s go get it.’ You know, shoutout to those guys,” Davis said. “Two things, I want to thank God, and I want to thank the Big Blue Wall. … I had nothing to do with today. I’ll be honest, I had nothing to do with today. It was my tight ends, my Big Blue Wall.

“They’ve been facing a lot of criticism, and today they were able to show out and show what they could do. I think we rushed for almost 300 yards. It’s all thanks to them, all thanks to God and thanks to Coach Stoops, for letting me come here.”

After their dominating performance against the Gators, Kentucky will now turn the page to the Georgia Bulldogs, but Davis made sure to let George know the Wildcats will enjoy this victory first.

“Right now, we’re just focused on today,” Davis said. “When we get in Sunday, we’ll worry about what we’ve got to take care of. We’re going to focus on this 24 hours, and we’re going to get to the film on Sunday and get ready to work. We know Georgia’s a very tough team. Defending national champions. They’re going to being all they got.

“We’ve got to be able to match that intensity, match their physicalness and go out there and just play our game. Focus on us, not anything else.”
