The Kentucky Wildcats landed a nice prospect out of the transfer portal on Friday. Milwaukee transfer outfielder Carson Hansen flipped his commitment from Arkansas to Kentucky, according to Mason Choate of HawgBeatcom.

Hansen was Horizon All-League first team this past year. He finished second on the team with 64 hits in 203 at bats with a .315 batting average. He also finished with 25 doubles, 11 home runs, and 63 RBIs, finishing with a team-best 122 total bases. In 2023, he earned Horizon All-Freshman honors after he finished with 17 hits and a .298 batting average.

Milwaukee-Wisconsin finished with a 19-36 overall record this year, including 13-17 in conference. They finished the year losing three of their last four games. The Panthers finished fourth in the Horizon League this year. Zach Lane was second on the team in home runs with seven. Hansen was the only player on the team with double digit home runs and just the second to clear 100 total bases for the year (Justin Hausser was the other with 101).

Hansen played high school baseball at Pewaukee (Wisc.) High School and was the Wisconsin Division II State Player of the Year. Hansen hit .520 with 18 doubles as a junior, both of those being school records.

A dynamic athlete, he also played quarterback and linebacker for his football team, guiding them to a state title as a senior.

The Hogs already had a number of outfielder commitments in their 2024 transfer portal class, so Hansen’s flip makes sense in terms of seeking more playing time elsewhere.

Kentucky had an impressive season this year in college baseball, finishing with a 46-16 overall record and a 22-8 record in the SEC. They made it all the way to the 2024 College World Series, where they won one game, but lost two games (Texas A&M and Florida) before being eliminated. The Wildcats were led by Ryan Nicholson, who blasted 23 homers this year. Pitcher Trey Pooser led the team in wins.

Arkansas had a pretty good year this year, finishing with a 44-16 overall mark. They also finished 20-10 in the SEC. Hogs outfielder Kendall Diggs just recently announced that he’ll be returning to the team for 2025. He’ll be expected to be one of the top players at his position yet again. His highlight reel grabs will once again dazzle fans in Fayetteville for one more season.
