Otega Oweh throws down highlight-reel poster dunk vs. Texas A&M

As Kentucky started to pull away from Texas A&M in Tuesday night’s game, Otega Oweh made his presence known. He put himself on the highlight reel with a nasty poster dunk.
Oweh drove to the rim and went directly at Pharrel Payne. That’s when he threw down the hammer, firing up the Rupp Arena crowd and putting Payne on a poster in the process.
It was quite the statement from Oweh and the Wildcats as they put together a strong surge out of halftime. Tuesday night’s game was an intriguing Top-15 matchup, and it lived up to the billing.
Oweh finished with 11 points on the night as Kentucky got its second straight ranked SEC win, defeating Texas A&M 81-69. The Wildcats improved to 14-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the effort, which saw Jaxson Robinson lead the way with 22 points to go with eight rebounds.
Andrew Carr also had a big night with 13 points in 25 minutes. All eyes were on his status heading in after he played through a back injury against Mississippi State, but Mark Pope noted his toughness.

“It was kind of like every rotation I’m making eye contact with Brandon Wells, like, ‘Can we do more? Do we need to shut it down? Where are we?’” Pope said. “And Andrew ended up making huge plays. Not just because he got a couple and-ones, but because he got some guys in foul trouble that really helped us. He’s a tough kid, man. He’s a warrior. He’s a really tough kid. He loves our team.”
Kentucky took a 35-32 lead into halftime Tuesday night, but broke out in a big way after the break. The Wildcats shot 60.9% from the field out of the locker room while holding Texas A&M to an 0-for-12 showing from three point territory, and all 11 of Otega Oweh’s points came in the final 20 minutes. UK outscored the Aggies 46-37 after halftime to seal the victory.
UK also broke out some iconic throwback uniforms, donning the 1993 uniforms. In fact, they were Kentucky’s official uniforms one year before Pope transferred in from Washington – though he was in a full suit on Tuesday, as he always is at Rupp.
Another big game awaits Kentucky, though. Alabama comes to Rupp Arena for what should be an entertaining Top-10 matchup.
