Rich Scangarello says Will Levis reminds him of the ‘great ones’ in NFL
Coming into the 2022 season, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis was one of the most hyped players in all of college football. A top-tier NFL prospect, Levis is expected to help Kentucky compete for the SEC East. This season, he needs to do that with a new offensive coordinator in Rich Scangarello, though, after Liam Coen returned to the NFL.
Rich Scangarello feels like he couldn’t have ended up in a better situation, though. Will Levis, in his mind, is going to be a great NFL quarterback. While speaking to the media, he explained what he sees in Levis.
“He did a pretty good job of getting rid of the ball,” Rich Scangarello said. “There’s a couple of sacks I wish he’d go down a little easier with and not twist and turn, but yeah.”

“Yeah, you know, we want to keep him clean. But, we dropped back probably more than I probably should have, but I think I told you guys I felt like that was the best way to kind of expose what they do and try to get our playmakers in position, and that led to some things,” Rich Scangarello continued.

“But, Will did a nice job. I mean, it reminded me of watching guys in the NFL. I mean, guys are in his face and he’s making throws and doing stuff that only the great ones can do. The no flinch and his ability to do that. You know, we’ve got to keep him upright. Got to keep him healthy. But, as long as he’ll stand in there and move in the pocket the way he’s done, I think the rest of it will come and we’re gonna get better at that.”
That’s high praise that Will Levis is garnering from his offensive coordinator. Though, Rich Scangarello would know better than most if Levis looks like an NFL quarterback. He has spent time in the NFL as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at stops with San Francisco and Denver.
