SMU WR Ashton Cozart has signed with Kentucky from the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per On3’s Pete Nakos on Tuesday.

Cozart has spent a pair of collegiate seasons with Oregon and SMU. He didn’t play for the Ducks in redshirting during his lone season in Eugene before appearing in four games this past season for the Mustangs with one catch made for 24 yards in their home opener. He would not be listed on the roster for Southern Methodist, though, coming into the spring with him entering the transfer portal for the second time in as many offseasons on April 16th during the spring cycle.

A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Cozart went to Marcus where he was the No. 215 overall recruit as a four-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as the No. 30 wide receiver in the class and a Top-40 prospect out of the state of Texas. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That made him one of the ten-best signees for the Ducks during that recruiting cycle in a top-ten class, which was their first one rated that highly under Dan Lanning.

Now, in a consecutive transfer, Cozart was a decently-rated receiver in the portal. He, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, is in the Top-2,500 overall as a Top-350 WR.

Kentucky was reportedly involved in the portal recruitment last year for Cozart. They now earn his commitment the second time around in adding him to a Top-15 portal class with 23 commitments according to the latest update to On3’s 2025 Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Wide receiver is a position that involved the portal among the most for the Wildcats with Barion Brown (LSU), Dane Key (Nebraska), Anthony Brown-Stephens (Tulane), and Brandon White (Hawaii) departing while Cozart along with Kendrick Law (Alabama), Troy Stellato (Clemson), JJ Hester (Oklahoma), and Tru Edwards (Louisiana Tech), as well as a return by Hardley Gilmore, coming to Lexington.
