Somebody call 9-1-1! Yes, send the ambulances and EMT’s over to Thomson-Boling Arena, where you’ll find the Tennessee Men’s Basketball team, who were ranked No. 5 in the country but just lost at home to unranked rival Kentucky. The Wildcats ultimately defeated the Vols 63-56.

Oh it was sweet for Kentucky fans, who were desperate for a win after two straight embarrassing losses to Alabama and South Carolina in the last week. And that win came in the sweetest possible way…on the road, against their biggest conference rival, who was ranked in the top-five in the country.

After the game, the UK team Twitter account had fun at the Vols’ expense, posting this video trolling their slightly southern orange-clad rivals:

Kentucky, and more so John Calipari, had the hate piled on them throughout the last week after such poor outings to start SEC play. After coming out with a win, the ‘Cats are letting loose and show-boating on social media.

For the first time in UK basketball history, an unranked Wildcats team has defeated an AP top-five team on the road, according to UK Athletics statistician Corey Price.

That isn’t a surprise in all honesty. Being one of the most storied programs in college basketball history, they’re used to being the top-five ranked team on upset watch from an unranked school.

Kentucky had been off the mark since entering SEC play. UK’s 1-3 record heading into Saturday was the second worst in the conference – but the statement win over the SEC’s reigning champions is a great way to get back on track in league play.
