Will Levis was the star of Kentucky’s primetime matchup on the road against Florida Saturday night. In a QB battle between him and Anthony Richardson, Levis and his UK teammates came out on top with the 26-16 win. The focus on the rivalry between the Wildcats and Gators made this a win Levis wanted to get. Playing it in the second game of the season made it that much more important for the team too.

Levis joined On3’s Shannon Terry and INFLCR’s Jim Cavale on On3’s ‘LeverUP NIL Show’ and started off talking about the win in The Swamp. He said this is one that, although Kentucky doesn’t want to look ahead, the team had circled from the start.

“It feels good. Obviously you want to take it one week at a time but we knew we had that big one week two down at Florida. We took care of business week one. But, as soon as that game ended, we focused kind of right onto Florida the week after that,” said Levis. “We’ve been game planning for them since the start of fall camp. Our offensive coordinator and all of our coaches have been thinking about what we wanted to do and how we were going to handle the game. I’m so glad we were able to go down there and take care of business.”

Levis finished 13/24 on the night for 202 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in Kentucky’s major road win to open SEC play. However, some don’t realize the toll a game like that can take on a player.

The first thing is going out on the field and performing, which Levis and his teammates did. After that, though, was a flight home from Gainesville and getting started again Sunday morning in Lexington. Levis says he wishes he could have celebrated more after the win. However, it was back to the grind to prepare for this upcoming weekend.

“I didn’t get into my apartment here until about a quarter past three last night. It was funny because I had all these people back here on campus telling me, ‘You’ve got to come celebrate! You’ve got to come here! You’ve got to do that!’ And I was like, ‘Um…Not gonna happen’,” said Levis. “We celebrated on our own on the plane back. Then we got here, got our rest, got in the facility, and got what we needed to do today to get ready for next week. But, hey, that’s how it is.”

Will Levis has started his senior year at Kentucky strong with two big wins to open 2022. It has led the Wildcats to jump into the Top-10 of the AP Poll. A lot is going right in the bluegrass from Mark Stoops and Levis down through the rest of the roster. With plenty of positive momentum, Levis and his teammates have solidified themselves amongst the SEC and the nation’s best to start the year.
