According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Louisville EDGE Adonijah Green plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Green just wrapped up his second season with the Cardinals, staying with the program through a coaching change. Now, he is looking to start fresh elsewhere.

Green had 16 appearances during his time with Louisville, 12 occurring this past year. A redshirt was taken as a true freshman, meaning the pass rusher enters the open market with three years of eligibility remaining. Not bad considering some development likely still needs to take place.

In those 16 games, Green recorded 11 tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one sack.

When Louisville hired Jeff Brohm to be a head coach, many inside the 2023 recruiting class had a decision to make. Green was certainly one of them, having Cincinnati and Ole Miss taking a swing to land his high school commitment. Both ultimately failed at the time as Green decided to stick with the Cardinals.

“The relationship that I have with the commits, the vision that I still see and the coaches and how dedicated they are to making Louisville better,” Green told Simmons back in Dec. 2022.

Green played high school football at Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 190 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

When things were all said and done, Green was the highest-rated prospect to sign with Louisville during the cycle. A huge win for Brohm and his coaching staff at the time, fending off other power conference programs.

But other schools will soon have an opportunity to engage with Green and attempt to get them on their roster. Quality EDGE players can be tough to find in the portal and the market for them can be quite large. Green certainly has an opportunity to be one of those players.
