Louisville men's basketball hires Stephanie Davis as Director of Basketball Operations

Louisville men’s basketball hired Stephanie Davis as their Director of Basketball Operations on Thursday afternoon, per a press release issued by the school. She’s been a staff member of Louisville men’s basketball since 2001 and officially got the promotion on Thursday under head coach Kenny Payne.

Davis has over 20 years of experience in the Louisville athletic department. She’s worked as an administrative assistant for Louisville basketball since 2001, managing recruiting travel, business operations, compliance, fan requests, alumni ticket requests, event planning, assisting in team travel, and many other items. Davis is going to continue to do those items, as well as overseeing student-athlete housing, prospective student athlete campus visits, visiting team needs, player tickets, and other issues, per the press release.

She announced her excitement in the new role in a statement in the press release: “For over 20 years, I have been fortunate to be a part of the Cardinal Basketball family,” said Davis.  “I am honored that Coach Payne has entrusted me with the opportunity to be the Director of Basketball Operations and I look forward to being able to take a more hands-on role within the program and with the players. The future is bright for Louisville Basketball and I am excited to be along for the ride!”

In her college athletics playing career, Davis was a standout volleyball player for the Murray State Racers as a middle-hitter for three seasons (1995-1997). She was twice named All-OVC (first team in 1995 and second team in 1996) and also landed on the OVC All-Tournament team in 1995. Davis ranks among one of the best volleyball players in Murray State history–ranking in the top 10 in school history in the following categories: kills (1,106), block assists (219), total blocks (263), and kill percentage (.236).

In her coaching career, she coached youth volleyball teams for 13 years at St. Albert the Great School (Louisville, Ky.) and for four years with the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Association.
