Monroe Mills injury update: Jeff Brohm shares negative update on Louisville OL
Louisville has received tough news on offensive lineman Monroe Mills, who was injured in Saturday’s loss to SMU. Mills is slated to miss some time for the Cardinals, and even when he comes back he will not be 100 percent, according to Jeff Brohm.
The Louisville head coach revealed the news during his press conference on Monday.
“Well, you asked about Monroe, so, you know, he had an injury. It will knock him out,” Jeff Brohm said. “I anticipate him coming back at some point. But it will be him playing injured and his willingness to do that.”
Monroe Mills has played well at left tackle for the Cardinals this season. Brohm is unsure exactly how long the senior will be out, but he acknowledged that the loss is a big one for Louisville.
“We’re still looking through a few things on that but unfortunately that happened. And he’d been doing a good job for us. He’d been solid all year,” Brohm said. “So that was disappointing for him and for us. We’ll see where that goes.”
Monroe Mills is in his first season at Louisville after transferring over from Texas Tech this offseason. He was a two-year starter for the Red Raiders before entering the transfer portal.

Louisville DB Devin Neal leaves program, expected to enter transfer portal
In addition to losing Monroe Mills to an injury, Louisville also recently lost defensive back Devin Neal as he made the decision to leave the program and enter the transfer portal.
Neal is in his fifth year of college football and played in all four of Louisville’s games in 2024 before opting out of the season. He spent three years at Baylor before transferring to Louisville ahead of last season.
A native of Lexington, KY, Neal attended one of the most prolific high schools in the state, Frederick Douglass. As a three-star recruit, he did not receive any offers from his home state schools and elected to attend Baylor, his only Power Five offer at the time. Cincinnati (not yet in the Big 12), Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan were the only other teams to have offered him, according to his On3 recruiting profile.
During his three seasons in Waco, he became a key piece to the Bears’ defense. In 2022, he starred in his role having recorded the first two interceptions of his career to go with a sack, one forced fumble and 41 total tackles.
