Following one season at Louisville, quarterback Jack Plummer wound up signing as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers. It’s a similar path that Tyler Shough is currently working towards after joining Louisville through the transfer portal this offseason.

Shough joins the Cardinals with plenty of experience after spending three season at Oregon followed by three more at Texas Tech. A career highlighted by injuries that according to Shough have only made him stronger as he joins Louisville for the final season of his college career.

“I mean it’s made me who I am, it’s put a chip on my shoulder just to go out there and prove myself and know what I can do,” Shough said at ACC Media Days on Wednesday. “I feel like there’s a lot left out there and that’s the reason why I wanted to come back and increase my draft stock, and contribute on a really good football team in Louisville, and get that job done in winning that championship.”

When healthy and available, Shough has produced on the field, throwing for 4,625 yards and 36 touchdowns along with 10 rushing scores and 714 yards on the ground in his 30 game appearances between his time with the Ducks and Red Raiders. But Slough hasn’t played in more than seven games in a single season.

“So for me it means more than anything and obviously I learned so much going through that process. And if I’m an NFL GM or a coach for a college team I want somebody who’s battle-tested and who’s been through a lot of adversity and come out the other side positive and, and even better,” Shough explained.

In terms of battling adversity, Shough has been successful at bouncing back time and time again. But now he’ll took to generate success on the field in a fully healthy season. Striving to maintain the program’s recent success and increase his draft stock in the process.

“Having a lot of success is great in your career, but things aren’t gonna go right always and how do you bounce back from that? And that’s kind of what I’ve taken from it every single year and I’m super grateful for this opportunity to go out there and get it done,” Shough concluded.
