Report: Scott Satterfield's job status isn't contingent on results of Virginia game
According to a report by Louisville football insider Eric Crawford, Scott Satterfield’s job status is not contingent on how his team performs against Virginia. This comes as there is growing uncertainty around Satterfield’s future with the program.
This goes against what ESPN college football insider Adam Rittenberg recently wrote. He said, “If Louisville falls to lowly Virginia on Saturday before an open week, a change is expected.”
“After some conversations with sources, I feel confident in saying that Scott Satterfield’s future at Louisville is not contingent on the result of Saturday’s game at Virginia, and that the school appears to have no plans to make a move this weekend or during the off week,” Eric Crawford tweeted.

Scott Satterfield is in his fourth season at Louisville. There, he has a 20-22 record, including a 2-3 record in 2022. He also publicly flirted with the South Carolina job, which has led to tensions between him and the rest of the Louisville community.

For its part, Virginia has struggled in year one under Tony Elliott. A loss, and in particular a bad loss, would be a major stain on Scott Satterfield’s resume.
With a bye week coming up before a tough stretch of games, it would make sense to use a loss to Virginia as an excuse to move on from Scott Satterfield. However, if Eric Crawford’s report is correct, that won’t be happening this week or during the bye.
