Thor Griffith ejected for targeting for hit against Kentucky QB Cutter Boley
Louisville DL Thor Griffith was flagged for tareting against Kentucky QB Cutter Boley during the first quarter of Saturday’s regular season finale.
Griffith hit Boley with what appeared to be helmet-to-helmet contact. Boley was being wrapped up at the legs by another Cardinals defender when Griffith made the hit. After review, it was confirmed and he was ejected from the game.
Boley left the game and was sent to the medical tent on the Kentucky sideline. He was replaced by Gavin Wimsatt, who led Kentucky to its first touchdown drive of the afternoon just after Boley was taken out.
Losing Griffith is one of the only negatives that will come out of UL’s trip to Lexington. Louisville controlled Kentucky from the opening possession, and led the Wildcats 20-0 by the time Griffith was ejected from the game.
After Kentucky’s touchdown in the third quarter, the Wildcats were able to get the ball back with a chance to cut the game to one score, but Louisville was able to force a Kentucky fumble and returned the scoop and score for a back-breaking touchdown to ballooned the lead back to three scores.

Griffith transferred into the program this offseason after playing for Harvard. He moved on from the Ivy League for his final year of eligiblity following an excellent senior season, where he recorded 55 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2023.
And in 2022, Griffith was named first-team All-Ivy League after finishing with 46 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.
While he didn’t have the same impact for the Cardinals in his lone season in Louisville, he still finished the season with 18 tackles, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.
Louisville ultimately defeated Kentucky 41-14, embarassing the Wildcats in front of their home crowd. The Wildcats got beat so bad their fanbase was chanting for them to have a new coach by the end of the second half. The Cardinals improve to 8-4 on the eason after the blowout win.
