UCF transfer DB Corey Thornton commits to Louisville Cardinals

The Louisville Cardinals have been busy landing prospects from the transfer portal on Friday evening. First, they got a commitment from former Alabama star wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks. Then, they also got a commitment from former UCF defensive back, Corey Thornton.

He snatched three interceptions this season for the Knights, while also racking up 27 tackles. In each of the past three seasons for UCF, Thornton tallied 30 tackles more, recording 49 tackles in 2022.

As a junior, he earned third team All-AAC honors, after he led the Knights with seven pass breakups. In 2021, he earned third team All-AAC honors yet again, after he finished third on the team with six pass breakups.

As a high school prospect in 2019, the Florida native guided Booker T. Washington (Miami, Florida) to a 25-21 victory over Jacksonville Bolles to win the Florida 4A state crown. His team finished with a 14-2 overall record in 2019 and a No. 1 final ranking in the regular season polls by the Associated Press.
