2024 Safety Maurice Williams II commits to LSU

Four-star safety Maurice Williams II of Bellaire (TX) Shadow Creek High announced his commitment to LSU Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1 190 pounder chose the Tigers over Michigan, Oregon, USC, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.
Williams on why he chose LSU
“The DB tradition there, the relationship with coaches, the food, the community,and it just felt like home the 1st day I visited,” Williams said. “They let me bring my cousin to film my 1st visit, and that showed me how much they were rocking with me. I just love everything about LSU and I want to be a part of keeping the DBU tradition alive. I wanna be great at LSU.”

Relationship with coaching staff
“Coach Sherman, Kerry Cooks, Matt House, Antonio Fenelus and of course coach Brian Kelly,” Williams said when asked which coaches he’s closest to. “ We talk about just life and laugh a lot. We crack jokes and also talk about football. They see me as a player that can play all phases at the safety position–rover, free and nickel.
He ranks as the No. 71 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. The 2024 prospect also tabs in at the No.5 safety and the No.12 player in the state of Texas.
Maurice Williams is LSU’s first commitment in the ‘24 class.
