4-star LSU QB commit Colin Hurley attends Tigers season opener
A long list of recruits attended the LSU versus Florida State season opener in Orlando, Florida on Sunday. Among those was Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy four-star LSU quarterback commit Colin Hurley.
Hurley posted a photo from the stands to his social media ahead of the Tigers’ clash with the Seminoles.
Hurley was one of many elite recruits in attendance at Camping World Stadium. Others include No. 1 overall prospect and Ohio State wide receiver commit Jeremiah Smith, Five-Star Plus+ Florida State safety commit KJ Bolden and five-star Florida State cornerback commit Charles Lester.
Hurley is the nation’s No. 297 overall prospect and No. 18 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 39 player in Florida.
Hurley: ‘Playing football at LSU is a privilege’
Hurley committed to LSU in November of last year and has taken a number of trips to Baton Rouge.
“My message is clear,” Hurley told On3. “Coach (Brian) Kelly is the winningest active head coach in college football. He’s had tremendous success throughout his entire career and we saw a glimpse of that last season – his first at LSU. When you look at LSU, you have to consider the program’s history, it’s fans, Tiger Stadium and how this place is gritty and kinda grimy.

“There’s just an attitude here and it’s not made for everyone. Playing football at LSU is a privilege. It’s just different.”
Hurley reclassified from the 2025 class to 2024 and expects to enroll early in January. He spent much of this summer recruiting for the Tigers.
“I’d say exactly what I did at the Bayou Bash. LSU Football is back,” he said. “It’s about to make a run in the SEC and country. I truly believe it will compete for, and win, a national championship. I’d tell them to make the move. This staff will coach you hard and prepare you. The brand is so powerful, so who wouldn’t want to play here. There’s something special about Death Valley and there’s no place like it.”
