5-star CB Desmond Ricks visiting LSU this weekend

Chesapeake (Va.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks will be in Baton Rouge, La., this upcoming weekend for LSU‘s game against Mississippi State.

This will be Ricks’ third visit to Death Valley this year but his first visit for a game.

His last visit to the school was in June.

“It was great being up there, seeing the Louisiana tradition and eating the crawfish was amazing,” Ricks told The Bengal Tiger. “We toured through campus, talked with coach Kelly, sat down and watched film with coach Steeples. I’ve just seen more about the DB tradition.”

Ricks is the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also ranked second in the 2024 On300 ranking.

Chandler (Ariz.) High quarterback Dylan Raiola is the lone player ranked ahead of him in both the On3 Consensus and On300.

Alabama is the current leader in his recruitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Ricks currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $159k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Big, athletic corner who stars on one of the most talented defenses in high school football. Has good stature for the position at over 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds heading into his junior season. Registers as a strong athlete in the combine setting. Was a key player on IMG Academy’s talented defense as a sophomore in addition to seeing significant time as a freshman. A smooth mover with advanced technical ability. Battle-tested against top wide receivers both in practice at IMG and in playing a national schedule throughout the fall. Older for the class, turning 18 years old in the middle of his junior season.
