Five-star St. Louis (Mo.) IMG Academy EDGE Samuel M’Pemba will visit LSU this weekend, he announced Wednesday afternoon on Twitter.

The trip marks the first known visit for M’Pemba to Baton Rouge, who will join a pair of IMG teammates — five-star 2024 cornerback Desmond Ricks and top-10 2024 prospect Ellis Robinson IV — for the game.

M’Pemba is the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 3 EDGE and the No. 6 senior recruit in the state of Florida.

The Tigers are getting a visit from him despite not being listed among his top seven schools earlier this summer, a group which included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon and Tennessee.

He currently has official visits scheduled to see Georgia, Oregon and Notre Dame later this fall, with the Bulldogs considered to be the heavy leaders by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It gives Georgia a 93.0 percent chance of securing his commitment.

Samuel M’Pemba Scouting Summary

“Physically-developed two-way athlete, with the highest projected ceiling as an EDGE prospect. Played as a pass rusher and wide receiver at his initial high school prior to transferring to IMG Academy as a junior. Primarily played as a tight end/h-back at IMG during the fall of 2021. A strong athlete with dip and feel for rushing the passer. Had considerable murkiness around his ultimate position. Practicing at EDGE in the spring for IMG and looks primed to make an impact as a pass rusher.

… Measured at 6-foot-3.5, 240 pounds with a 6-foot-10 wing-span prior to his senior season. Tests as a solid to good athlete, clocking an electronically-timed 4.94 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Would benefit greatly from a permanent move to defense as a senior, in our opinion.Practicing at EDGE in the spring and looks good there. Can continue to improve initial quickness but savvy and has natural pass rush ability.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
