Aneesah Morrow injury update: LSU star helped to locker room following unfortunate collision

LSU is already down a massive piece in Saturday’s SEC Tournament semifinal against Texas. Flau’jae Johnson is not playing due to shin splints, having to turn elsewhere. Aneesah Morrow has become a big piece but unfortunately is now dealing with an injury of her own.
Morrow was attempting to back down in the post and when attempting to gather herself, stepped on a Texas player’s foot. Trainers came out to help Morrow up before assisting her to the locker room. There was no stop on the bench, immediately heading down the tunnel.
“Well guys, I’m checking on Aneesah in just a moment but I want to provide some context,” ESPN’s Holly Rowe said. “Walking into the building tonight, she was wearing a boot on that left foot. She has had something lingering for several weeks I’m told with that left foot and lower leg. So, I don’t know if that’s an aggravation or something but I’ll let you know as soon as I know more.”
Play-by-play broadcaster Ryan Ruocco quickly pointed out how this injury has more than short-term implications for LSU. Yes, they would enjoy advancing to the SEC Tournament championship game against South Carolina. However, the big picture is more important as the Tigers want to advance through the NCAA tournament.
Morrow leaves Saturday’s game as the leading scorer for LSU. Ten points on five of 11 from the field sees her being the lone Tiger in double figures. Quality defense has been provided from Morrow too, having four steals on the stat sheet.

Injury update provided on Flu’jae Johnson amid shin splints
LSU has one win under its belt in the SEC Tournament and is now searching for another one on Saturday against Texas. They are doing so without Flau’Jae Johnson though, who is dealing with shin splints. Johnson did not play against Florida and is once again on the sidelines during the Texas game.
ESPN’s Holly Rowe did provide the latest on Johnson during the first half, saying the LSU star was wearing a walking boot at one point. Johnson has also changed up her leadership style now helping off the court. An injured player can easily disconnect at times but Johnson appears locked in.
“Flau’Jae is out with shin splints,” Rowe said. “I did see her walk into the building tonight with a boot on her right leg. I’ve seen her getting some ultra red therapy in the sauna, trying to get rehab and get that inflammation down. But she has been very active on the bench right now, talking to her teammates in the huddle. You see how great she’s been as a scorer but I see her trying to say very engaged and uplifting with her teammates right now.”
