Angel Reese makes acrobatic layup for USA vs. Venezuela
Even though she’s not suiting up for the LSU Tigers this summer, superstar small forward Angel Reese put on a show on Saturday for Team USA vs. Venezuela in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. Reese is the face of women’s basketball and she’s racked up every NIL deal imaginable. She didn’t disappoint on Saturday, stuffing the stat sheet with 11 points and nine rebounds against Venezuela in their opening round game. Reese made an impressively acrobatic layup, as she was able to put the ball in the hoop while getting shoved in the back by a defender.
Check that out below.
Team USA took care of business against Venezuela on Saturday, whipping them by a score of 80-54. You can track more of their progress throughout that tournament from the USA Basketball Twitter page.

It’s been an unbelievable year for Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers
LSU small forward Angel Reese has been one of the most devastatingly dominant players in women’s college basketball history during her time there. Not only did she recently shatter the SEC record for the most double-doubles in a season, she also accomplished another remarkable feat on Sunday in the national championship game between Iowa and LSU. Reese tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s matchup, giving her 34 double-doubles for her storied career, the most in a single season in women’s college basketball history.
She’s racked up an extensive number of accolades this year, including first team AP All-American, first team All-SEC, and first team All-SEC Defensive team honors. The superstar small forward added one more magical piece of hardware to her trophy case in the closing minutes of Sunday’s game: a national championship. It was the first national championship in LSU women’s basketball history.

The LSU Tigers won it all, defeating Iowa 102-85. Offense came easy for the Tigers Sunday, setting the record for the most points scored in a women’s Final Four game with their win. But the road wasn’t always easy for LSU, as senior leader Reese detailed exactly what it took to for the Tigers to reach championship glory following their win.
“Breathe and believe, that’s all we did all year,” Reese said. “Just take a deep breath and keep believing in each other. Nobody thought we were going to be here, nobody. As long as we believe in each other, I don’t even know what to say right now, I’m just so happy.”
Reese may have been speechless after the game, but her play spoke for itself. She earned the Most Outstanding Player for the 2023 NCAA Tournament, averaging 23.3 points, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game throughout the tournament. But her first quarter in the championship game started off with two early fouls that limited her minutes early.
Reese came to LSU as one of the most dynamic players in women’s college basketball after her two seasons at Maryland. She was the top-rated player in the transfer portal in the 2022 cycle. Reese led the Terrapins to the Sweet 16 in 2022 as their top scorer (17.8 points per game) and top rebounder (10.6 rebounds per game). She became the first sophomore in Maryland women’s basketball history to average a double-double since 1975.
