Baton Rouge Regional matchup between LSU and Oregon State delayed due to lightning
The Baton Rouge Regional matchup on Sunday between the LSU Tigers and Oregon State Beavers was in the middle of a delay in the third inning. The game was delayed due to lightning. The Baton Rouge Regional also had to deal with extensive weather delays on Saturday. So, it’s unfortunately just more of the same for college baseball fans in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The LSU Baseball Twitter page announced that they would keep fans informed with updates.

The game was delayed with Oregon State leading LSU 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Beavers second baseman Travis Bazzana blasted a solo shot to give OSU the lead. Play eventually resumed and the Tigers won the game, thanks to some clutch power hitting when they needed it the most.
LSU ended up winning the game 6-5, thanks to Brayden Jobert’s game-changing solo shot in the bottom of the eighth.
With the win, LSU advanced to the Baton Rouge Regional Final. They will face the winner of the Oregon State-Sam Houston State game on Sunday night.
The Tigers will have two chances to clinch a berth in the Super Regionals. The Regional Final will be played on Monday at 1:00 PM CST.
LSU has been one of the best teams in all of college baseball for the 2023 campaign. And their bats delivered when they needed them the most on Sunday evening. Timing is everything in sports and the Tigers brought the goods at the perfect time.

All six of LSU’s runs were scored by home runs. Oregon State tied the game up at 5-5 in the seventh inning, after Gavin Turley blasted a two-run shot for the Beavers.
LSU pitcher Thatcher Hurd fired a career-high 12 strikeouts after a rough early start. His last 12 strikeout game came when he played for UCLA on March 1, 2022. The Bruins were facing Long Beach State.
The Tigers began the game with Ty Floyd on the mound, but his outing was cut short by a lengthy three-hour weather delay. He finished the first three innings, allowing one earned run on five hits, striking out five, and walking two. Right hander Gavin Guidry finished the game off in the final inning to earn a save.
LSU improved their overall record to 45-15 with the win. It’s certainly going to be fascinating to see just how far the Tigers can go in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
