Brian Kelly claims talent shined in first half against Florida, praises Jack Bech
LSU coach Brian Kelly praised the talent of his team for their 28-21 lead over Florida at the half, and referred to Jack Bech as their best player. Bech drew eyes in a way he’d rather forget in the first half after he muffed a punt that was recovered by Florida — LSU’s fourth dropped kick of the season.

While speaking in an on-field interview after the first half, Kelly pointed out that his team’s sense of urgency and offensive output was a result of players stepping up and playing to their skill level.
“Well we made plays. It’s guys that are talented that are making plays and this game is about the big-time players stepping up. And they stepped up big in the first half and made plays. Obviously we made a mistake on special teams,” said Kelly.
After mentioning the miscue on special teams, something that has been a recurring issue for the Tigers, Kelly was asked what he said to Bech on the sideline when he was visibly upset at his huge mistake.

“You’re out best player,” Kelly said to Bech. “Now, I think he probably should fair catch that, that’s a lot to ask. That’s a four-point-plus hang time. But he’s such a competitor, he wants to try to win in those situations — he’s such a great kid and he’s our best player.”
The Tigers wasted no time continuing their big-play night as they opened the half with a touchdown set up by a massive 50-yard rush by Josh Williams to start the half.
