Brian Kelly confirms status of multiple injured players for Auburn game
The LSU Tigers had multiple players banged up in last weekend’s 38-0 blowout against the New Mexico Lobos. On Thursday night, LSU head coach Brian Kelly revealed some bad news that many Tiger fans were fearing, according to Brody Miller of The Athletic. LSU running back Armoni Goodwin has been ruled out this weekend against the Auburn Tigers. Also, LSU guard Garrett Dellinger injured his hand and will not play in the Auburn game.
Running back Armoni Goodwin was seen grabbing the back of his leg following a tackle in the New Mexico game. He was down on the ground for a little bit and was tended to by the LSU trainers, before heading into the medical tent and then the locker room with Tigers’ medical personnel in the third quarter. He eventually returned to the sideline. Before leaving the game, he had eight carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Brian Kelly also revealed some good news on the injury front on Thursday night for the Tigers. Safety Jay Ward has practiced all week and he will start against Auburn. LSU star linebacker B.J. Ojulari will also play on Saturday. He’s one of the best in the nation at his position, so his return is massive.

B.J. Ojulari’s freakishly talented brother, Azeez Ojulari, starred for Georgia before moving onto the New York Giants in the NFL. Both were dominant pass rushers during their college football careers. Last season for the Tigers, B.J. Ojulari racked up 11.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and nine quarterback hurries. As a freshman at LSU in 2020, the Marietta, Georgia, native suited up in eight games and totaled 16 tackles with five tackles for loss, four sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
He’s one of the more gifted pass rushers in college football and with another big year this year, figures to be a first-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. ESPN’s Todd McShay projected him as the No. 23 overall pick in his way-too-early mock for next offseason.
