Brian Kelly updates Armoni Goodwin, Aaron Anderson to 'probable' for Week 2
Following the season-opening loss to Florida State, a goal for LSU has been getting back healthy. A few players in the program are dealing with issues, including Armoni Goodwin and Aaron Anderson. Thankfully for the Tigers, head coach Brian Kelly was able to provide a positive update on both Goodwin and Anderson.
Kelly is bumping up the status of the running back and wide receiver. They will be probably heading into Saturday’s game against Grambling State. A big win for LSU, hoping to get a lot of players a healthy dose of snaps in what should be a positive result.
“Goodwin is upgraded to probable,” Kelly said. “And I think Anderson as well. Both of those guys are probable.”
Goodwin did not get to play against Florida State. He had been dealing with an injury for a few days leading into the game but was officially ruled out just a few hours before kickoff. LSU did not have the best day running the ball either, potentially needing Goodwin on the field.
As for Anderson, he got to make his LSU debut after joining via the NCAA transfer portal and SEC West rival Alabama. His biggest impact actually came on special teams but in a negative impact. Anderson muffed a punt and gave the ball back to Florida State with good field position.

With the wide receiver now preparing to play against Grambling State, Kelly is going to keep Anderson out there as the punt returner. Moving on from him would be easy, finding somebody else to field punts. But one mistake is not going to force the LSU head coach to make a change this time.
“Keep working with him,” Kelly said. “He’s a young player. We’re not kicking him out of the club. We’re gonna keep working with him.
“Then, yeah, there’s that natural progression of getting him back involved in more of the offense.”
On the offensive end, Anderson got involved by catching a pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels. He finished with one reception of seven yards. Six different LSU players were able to record receptions in what was an otherwise frustrating night.
Now upgraded to probable, hopefully, both Anderson and Goodwin are able to get onto the field and make an impact. Having both of them performing at a high level heading into SEC play would be a huge boost for Brian Kelly. LSU travels to Mississippi State in Week 3.
