Down in Dallas, TX at SEC Media Days, LSU head football coach Brian Kelly addressed the very one-sided exploits of his 2023 Tiger team, dropping a curse word when outlining his hopes for 2024.

According to college football reporter Heather Dinich, Brian Kelly was asked what he’s looking forward too most about 2024, and issued this response:

“Scoring a $hit load of touchdowns.”

Dinich noted that Kelly immediately realized his slip of the tongue and instead said admitted he should of said “not GIVING UP a bleep-ton of points.”

Of course, those statements could sum up LSU in 2023. With the closest replica of the 2019 Joe Burrow-Justin Jefferson-Ja’Marr Chase triumvirate in ’23 with Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas, the Tigers soared offensively. 50-point or 500-yard games were frequent. You really could use some vulgar vocabulary to describe just how good that unit was — as Brian Kelly did

However, the defense left a lot to be desired, and they certainly gave up a “bleep-ton” of points. In fact, the Tigers finished on polar opposite ends of the rankings when it came to offensive vs. defensive scoring output.

The LSU offense raced past the competition to finish as the top-scoring offense in the entire country, posting north of 45 points per game. However, the defense ranked towards the bottom of the SEC and gave up an even four touchdowns’ worth of points per game, 28, to rank 82nd in the nation in scoring defense. That may not be at the very bottom in the country, but it’s not a number LSU can win the national title with.

LSU player takes shot with comment about Oklahoma star

On Monday at SEC Media Days in Dallas, TX, one Oklahoma reporter, Abi Williams of OU Nightly, asked LSU linebacker Harold Perkins what he knew of another star SEC linebacker, Danny Stutsman. Except, Perkins didn’t know who Williams was talking about. Here was the full exchange between the two:

Abi Williams: “Being so dominant at that linebacker position, how much have you watched Oklahoma’s Danny Stutsman and do you see any similarities between yours and his game?”

Herold Perkins: “Can you repeat your question?”

Williams: “Oh sorry, Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma, do you see any similarities between your game and his game?”

Perkins: “Who is that?”

Williams: “Oklahoma’s linebacker, Danny Stutsman.”

Perkins: “To be honest, I ain’t really watching nobody else play. I only focus on myself, my teammates, and just focus on getting better.”

There you have it. Perkins willingly admits he has no clue who Williams is talking about when she brought up the name of a consensus First Team All-Big 12 performer from 2023, and likely one of the top linebackers
