Brian Kelly shares plans to watch LSU in College World Series final
The College World Series final is set to begin tonight, with Florida taking on LSU in a best-of-three matchup with the national championship on the line.
There will be plenty of special guests on hand.
LSU football coach Brian Kelly tweeted offering good luck to the LSU baseball team, noting he can’t make it up to Omaha for the first game on Saturday but he plans to be in attendance on Sunday for Game 2.
Meanwhile, Florida basketball coach Todd Golden flew into Omaha on Saturday morning along with several other top University Athletic Association (UAA) officials, according to a report from GatorsOnline’s Nick de la Torre, who is in Omaha covering the event for the On3 network.
Both Kelly and Golden have really embraced the culture at their respective schools, with their attendance at the College World Series final just the latest example.
Kelly has been active in supporting other LSU programs, with Kelly making an appearance in April at the national championship celebration for the women’s basketball team.

The former Notre Dame head coach joined The Hard Count with JD PicKell this spring and discussed what makes LSU so special.
“Well, I think first of all, it is a part of the country where football is just revered,” said Kelly. “And it starts at the high school ranks where kids grow up and they just want to play for LSU. I mean it’s a flagship — I think there’s only a couple of state universities — maybe Ohio State’s one of them, LSU, there’s only a few in the country where there is that incredible connection with their state and the flagship university and the game of football.
“I think secondly, the great tradition of LSU football, national championships, but guys in the NFL. I think that connection. And I think finally, the venue where college football is played. Tiger Stadium is unlike many places and I think that was seen.”
LSU won’t be playing at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night — nor in Louisiana, for that matter — but you can bet the Tigers faithful will be loud and proud at the College World Series final.
Fans were already packing the team hotel to see the team off to Charles Schwab Field.
The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET, with a broadcast on ESPN.
