Brian Kelly has shared two key updates on the statuses of wide receiver Jack Bech and running back Armoni Goodwin heading into LSU‘s big matchup this weekend against No. 7 Ole Miss.

Bech, who was seen wearing street clothes on the Tigers’ sideline before the end of Saturday’s 45-35 victory over Florida. The sophomore muffed a punt in the first half, and wasn’t seen on the field again. Kelly said the injury was a back strain following the game, but gave a bit more context to the situation – as well as Goodwin’s – heading into Week 8.

“Jack [Bech] is day to day. Got the same back situation, which is an L5. It’s cranky,” Kelly said Wednesday. “Hopefully, we get him up and going. He’s a tough guy. Hopefully, we can get him loose enough where he can play.

“And Armoni [Goodwin], we’ll practice him on Tuesday and see what we can get. He wants to play. Our doctors have cleared him. We’ll see what kind of volume we can get out of him, and hopefully it goes well during the week.”

Goodwin’s hamstring has been bothering him since the New Mexico shutout on Sept. 24. Not having played the last two games, before last week, Goodwin was still the top running back on the team statistically having carried the ball 34 times for 199 yards and five touchdowns, though he’s now been passed by junior tailback Josh Williams.

For Bech, he had not recorded a catch prior to his injury. So far this season, the sophomore has 10 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. However, he has just two catches for 16 yards combined over the past three games. A former four-star recruit, Bech totaled 43 catches for 489 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman last season for LSU, and will look to continue that production upon his return to action.

Kickoff between the Tigers and Rebels is set for 3:30 p.m. ET live on CBS as Ole Miss looks to seperate itself from the pack in the SEC West.
