Brian Kelly shoots down question on QB controversy: ‘We saw it differently’

In Brian Kelly’s first season at LSU, there have been issues on the offensive side of the ball. In particular, there has been a rising controversy surrounding the quarterback position and if starter Jayden Daniels is the best option. However, Kelly doesn’t believe there is a quarterback controversy.
While speaking to the media, Brian Kelly was asked what would go into trying another quarterback out. Kelly was also asked what his assessment of Daniels getting the ball out on time and in rhythm was.
“Yeah, well, we see it differently,” Brian Kelly said.

“We think that the one part of the offense that was pretty good today [against Tennessee] was the quarterback,” Brian Kelly said in defense of Daniels.
Jayden Daniels has been the starter for LSU this season. He won a three-way quarterback battle between himself, Garrett Nussmeier, and Myles Brennan. When he lost the battle, Brennan retired. However, Nussmeier is still on the roster and was considered the better downfield passer before the season began, which has been an issue for LSU.

However, Brian Kelly chose Jayden Daniels to be the starter. He had more experience, coming as a transfer from Arizona State, and is a better running threat. Behind an injured and struggling offensive line, that seemed to be a deciding factor.
On the season, Jayden Daniels has thrown for 1,215 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s added another 359 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. However, the offense has lacked explosive plays. Nussmeier has thrown one touchdown and two interceptions in limited action.
