WATCH: Controversial ruling overturns key LSU fumble recovery, long return
With 4:09 left in Saturday’s game against Arkansas, LSU looked like it made a huge play to put itself in position to score after Harold Perkins forced a fumble. But the officials went to replay and called it an incomplete pass, making it fourth down for the Razorbacks.
That led to a 31-yard punt to put LSU at its own 12-yard line — much more field than it would’ve had if the call stood.
Perkins got to Arkansas quarterback Cade Fortin and appeared to force a fumble, which Micah Baskerville picked up and ran back to the Razorbacks 20-yard line. The officials called it a fumble recovered by the Tigers, but upon further review, ruled Fortin’s arm was going forward. That made it an incomplete pass and wiped away the play.

The officials then went to the replay monitor again on the ensuing drive when they ruled Jaray Jenkins got a first down but reviewed whether or not he was short. The call on the field stood, giving the Tigers a ifrst down with more than two minutes to play.
Neither offense got much going in the first half of the game, but they woke up in the second half to make it interesting after the break. LSU scored the game’s first touchdown on a one-yard run by Josh Williams, but Arkansas answered back soon after with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Fortin to Matt Landers to make it a 13-10 Tigers lead.
