WATCH: Drew Brees delivers pre-game hype speech for LSU baseball
The LSU Tigers are riding into the week on a high. The baseball team took down Georgia in the third game of the series on Sunday afternoon in walk-off fashion. Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was in attendance for the game in Baton Rouge and delivered the team’s pregame hype speech.
“This is what we did during our championship season, okay,” Brees started. “I know the brand of baseball we play here. I know the expectation each and every year. Take one step forward and find a way to get back to the college world series and win a damn championship. That’s why you came here. My three boys here are going to watch your every move. You’re setting the example and you’re setting it high.
“The best teams I was ever a part of had guys that cared about each other,” Brees continued. “That’s the type of atmosphere we have to create here on this team.”
Brees walked the Tigers through a chant that he used to do with the Saints before breaking up the huddle.
LSU Tigers walk-off Bulldogs
Trailing by one run going into the ninth, third baseman Jacob Berry led off with a single before Cade Doughty brought him home with a bomb to left field.

The homer was Doughty’s 10th of the season and his second walk-off hit of the year. He provided a walk-off single to defeat Missouri 4-3 two weeks ago.
The Tigers improved to 29-14 overall and 12-9 in the SEC while Georgia dropped to 30-14 overall and 12-9 in conference play.
“I am extremely proud of our team today,” head coach Jay Johnson said after the game. “This was a great victory against a Top 5 RPI team, and to win two out of three here at home is awesome.
“I felt like we deserved to win the game with the way we played today. We maybe didn’t play our best, and it was hard, but I thought we deserved to win. It was great getting Cade up in the ninth with a chance to do it; I just looked at him and thought, ‘Man, we’re going to win this game right now.’”
The Tigers return to action at 6:30 p.m. CT Tuesday when they play host to Nicholls.
