LSU CB Duce Chestnut enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU cornerback Darian “Duce” Chestnut has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He started his college career at Syracuse.

Chestnut transferred to LSU a year ago, but only appeared in four games this season. Brian Kelly said he was away from the team earlier this year, and said Chestnut’s status — along with that of Denver Harris — was still part of future conversations as the season wrapped up.

“You know, we’ll have to sit down. We have not sat down with them,” Kelly said. “We’re going to wait until the end of the semester and then we’ll sit down and have individual conversations with both of them.”

Chestnut totaled six tackles and an interception in his four appearances this year. Over his two seasons at Syracuse, he totaled 83 tackles and four interceptions before making his way to LSU.

Duce Chestnut played high school football at Camden (NJ) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 469 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
