Dylan Crews has 'all the respect' for Wyatt Langford

An LSU vs. Florida College World Series final sets up a matchup between two of college baseball’s premier hitting talents: LSU’s Dylan Crews vs. Florida’s Wyatt Langford. Both have had fantastic seasons and made their mark in the NCAA Tournament. But this weekend will settle once and for all who gets to go home with the national championship trophy between these two SEC super sluggers.

Of course, there’s a competitive fire between the two stars, but at least from Crews’ side, there’s also plenty of respect for his opponent. At his media opportunity ahead of the championship series, Crews lauded Langford for his overall game as a ball player. Take a look:

“He’s a great kid, great player, too. We have all the respect for him. Very special talent,” said Crews. “I think he’s going to be a Big Leaguer for a very long time. Some of the best bat-to-ball skills and power I’ve ever seen. Can really track the ball down in the outfield. I really like his game and going to hopefully play alongside of him one day. So it would be good.”

It’s unlikely the two will cross paths early on in the pros with each likely going to a different team that has a very high draft pick. However, fans in Omaha will get quite a treat when they get to see the two future pros perform on the same field this weekend.

After his praise of Langford, Crews expressed that he really holds a lot of respect for the entire Florida program. He grew up keenly aware of the Gator baseball tradition and knows that their current roster is absolutely loaded.

“I have a lot of respect for them,” Dylan Crews said of UF. “I’m from Florida so I know a bunch of those guys on the team. Played with them. I have a lot of respect for them. They have got great starting pitchers, a great bullpen, great lineup, no holes in their lineup.”

LSU just made it through a gauntlet having to take down Wake Forest twice, but Crews knows that the road to the trophy doesn’t get any easier against an elite Florida team that the Tigers will need to beat twice.

“So we’ve got to be ready. We’ve got to be ready to go. It’s not going to be a cake walk. We’ve got to be mentally prepared and ready to go.”

They ought to be reared up and ready to go Saturday night on ESPN.
