2023 has been a dream season for LSU Tigers star outfielder Dylan Crews.
Dylan Crews talks about winning the SEC Player of the Year honors
Crews was named the SEC Player of the Year earlier in May. He’s in a pretty damn good spot right now.
For a moment amid all the craziness, Crews reflected on being named the SEC Player of the Year, taking some time to shout out everyone who worked behind the scenes to help him get to where he is now.
“It feels great, it feels great,” the LSU star told the media. “You know, it shows that the hard work is definitely paying off. You know, and the people that helped me out to get to where I am today, it means just as much to them as it does to me. So I’m very thankful, very blessed.
“I’m just trying to soak in each and every day, and looking back I think this is something I’m definitely going to think about, and just have a great memory of all these moments out here. I’m very thankful for it.”
While Crews was phenomenal for most of the season with the Tigers, he did slump a bit towards the end of their regular season campaign. However, he picked it up enough in time to stay ahead of the rest of the conference when it comes to SEC Player of the Year honors.

Overcoming a slump late in the year in the midst of a strong performance might be difficult for some individuals to do, but not for Crews. Later in a recent interview, Crews revealed how he was able to bounce back so strongly during his award-winning performance.
“Yeah, you know, I’m just trying to stay present every single day, really, and trust in my process interesting my process,” said Crews. “In the cages, the weight room, the training room each and every day, really. It is what it is you. I look up at the board, and I’m still doing pretty well. But yeah, just a little hiccup in the road. And like I said, just trying to stay present every day and trust in my process.”
Alas, Dylan Crews has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers this season. Coming into the 2023 College World Series, he’s blasted 17 home runs to go along with 64 RBIs. He’s racked up pretty much every accolade imaginable during his storied career with the Tigers. There’s just one thing left.
He’ll be hoping to cap his collegiate career off with a national title, and become a legend in Baton Rouge moving forward.
