Ed Orgeron updates Myles Brennan's status, confirms Kayshon Boutte is out
Reports emerged early Monday afternoon that LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte will miss the rest of the season due to a leg injury. LSU head coach Ed Orgeron confirmed the news, also providing an update on injured quarterback Myles Brennan.
“Yeah, Kayshon will be out for the year,” Orgeron confirmed to reporters in his Monday press conference. “Unavailable for the year, that’s correct.”
Boutte was carted off the field after going down awkwardly while trying to get his feet down on a catch along the sideline on Saturday. The former five-star recruit is LSU’s leading receiver by a wide margin this season. Boutte has 38 receptions for 509 yards and nine touchdowns on the year. The connection between quarterback Max Johnson and Boutte has been a bright spot on an offense that hasn’t been able to run the ball.
Orgeron also updated the injury status of quarterback Myles Brennan
Myles Brennan was expected to be LSU’s starting quarterback before he suffered an injury just before the season. Brennan suffered a compound fracture in his left arm in a freak fishing accident in August. Coach Orgeron originally hoped that Brennan would be able to return in LSU’s bye week between October 23rd’s game at Ole Miss and November 6th’s game at Alabama.

Now, though, Orgeron seems less optimistic that his original hopes will come true for Brennan. Orgeron was asked about Brennan’s recovery, where he admitted he wasn’t sure if the team would get him back this year.
“You know, I don’t know with Myles,” Orgeron said of Brennan. “I don’t know if Myles is going to be back. I really don’t know if we’re going to get him back at the open date like we though we would. I’m kind of unsure of that. We’ll have to play that by ear as he gets better. But I don’t think he’s going to be back on the open date. That’s my gut feeling.”
Brennan also missed significant time for LSU last season due to an injury. In LSU’s third game last year, Brennan suffered a torn abdomen. Brennan threw for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions for LSU before suffering the injury.
