Ed Orgeron shares life lessons seniors have learned from his journey
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron continues to battle on through this tough season and teach his players in the little time he has left with the Tigers. During the Tigers Monday press conference, Orgeron addressed the lessons his senior class has learned during this season.
“Invaluable,” said Orgeron on the value of this season. “Invaluable. You know after you win a championship everybody puts their fingerprints on that trophy. And everybody’s head gets a little bit bigger, and you forget how you got there. The reason that team became a championship team because they had great assistant coaches, they had great players, and the day after we lost to Troy, we decided that we ain’t gonna be in that position again.”
“I believe that’s when that championship team started, the day after loss to Troy. We would beat Florida there and we kept on going. We went to a bowl, won a bowl, we had great leadership. You cannot take that for granted, but life will throw you a bunch of curves. I tell our guys that that’s not what happens to you; it’s how you react. I think these guys, this team here as learn how to fight to the end through adversity. No matter what the circumstances are outside of you, you gotta get up in the morning gotta fight the fight. This team done that,” said Orgeron.
LSU players are still playing for Orgeron
LSU’s final game of the regular season against Texas A&M is notable due to the fact that the game will be Ed Orgeron’s final game as the head coach of the Tigers. Players have spoken about how they want to win the final game for Orgeron, but the soon-to-be former LSU coach wants his players to play for themselves when they take the field against Texas A&M.

“Well I appreciate that,” Orgeron said of LSU players playing for him against Texas A&M. “I love those boys. They know that. But I want them to play for them. I want them to win for the Tigers. And it’s never been about me. I’ve been in a great situation here the whole time. And I want them to win for themselves. This is about them.”
LSU snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 27-14 victory over UL Monroe. The win improved the Tigers to 5-6 on the season. With five wins and just one game remaining, LSU must win to ensure it is bowl eligible at the end of the season. This adds even more intrigue to the matchup in Orgeron’s final game.
