The LSU Tigers offensive line is about to get a boost. According to head coach Ed Orgeron, left tackle Cam Wire could be back for the Auburn game on Saturday.

“Ed Orgeron said he expects LT Cam Wire could be back for the Auburn game on Saturday,” tweeted Shea Dixon of 247Sports. “It would be the first time LSU would have the starting OL together since Week 1 vs. UCLA.”

Wire’s absence has been huge for LSU. Without him in the lineup, Orgeron doesn’t believe the Tigers’ offense is as potent.

Last week, Orgeron spoke about Wire’s status prior to the Tigers’ victory over Mississippi State. Furthermore, he mentioned LSU’s inability to find a replacement in his absence over the past two weeks.

“We haven’t gelled together like we wanted,” Orgeron said during last Wednesday’s SEC Teleconferences. “Those guys are trying, it seems like one day we have this guy in and one day we have that guy in. Still haven’t found a left tackle, we put some of the young guys in last week, they didn’t play very well, they know it. This is going to be an ongoing process. Whoever practices better this week is gonna play so we got guys that are fighting for it.”

Evidently, Orgeron has to be elated to possibly get Wire back this weekend. After he suffered an apparent knee injury against UCLA, he’s been missing from the team’s starting lineup.

Moreover, Wire is in his fourth season at LSU. After redshirting as a freshman in 2018, Wire played in 15 games over the last two seasons, starting five games at left tackle and one at right guard last season.

Coming out of high school, Wire was a three-star prospect from East Ascension (LA.) High School.

While LSU’s offense hasn’t been the unstoppable force they want to be, they’ve pulled out wins since Wire went down. Facing their toughest test since UCLA, Ed Orgeron can’t wait to get Cam Wire back in the game prior to their matchup against Auburn.
